EMMANUEL COMMUNITY CHURCH
Clinton, Wisconsin
Welcome to
Emmanuel's
CHILDREN'S MINISTRIES
Our Sunday School Program meets every Sunday at 10:30AM
This year we begin using the Dwell curriculum that has an interactive focus on teaching the Gospel from a Reformed perspective.
Throughout the year (other than for the Christmas Program practice times in November) the kids will spend the 5th Sunday for singing (on months with a 5th Sunday)!
Emmanuel's Children's Ministry includes:
-
Sunday School
-
Vacation Bible School
-
Pretzel Sunday
-
Christmas Program
-
Advent Workshop
-
Other multi-generational opportunities
As a church we don't mind if your baby cries in worship as we view that as the life of the church. We want kids to enjoy church and make memories, much like the children helping decorate the church for Christmas with the adults of the church.
Pretzel Sunday
The Sunday Before Lent (next: March 2, 2025)
Pretzels were developed by a monk in southern France in about 610 A.D. The dough is folded to represent a child's arms folded in prayer. He called his new treats, "pretiola", which is Latin for "little reward", and gave them to village children for learning their prayers. In Germany, the treats became known as "bretzel", which of course, became "pretzel" in English.
We can use the pretzel as a Lenten symbol because the shape of the folded arms reminds us that Lent is a time for prayer. Also, Lent is traditionally a time when our meals are simpler, and the pretzel, made of flour, salt and water, is an unleavened bread. Furthermore, the shape of the pretzel can also be a symbol of the Trinity and it can remind us that Jesus said He was the "bread of life" and He is our strength and our spiritual food, in Lent and at all times.
Making pretzels will take place in February after the Children's Sermon, and served during Fellowship time!
Join us and let the learning begin!
